Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 red bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 green bell pepper (sliced)
  • 1 yellow onion (sliced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup water or beef broth
  • Vegetable oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the sliced beef in soy sauce, cornstarch, rice vinegar, and sesame oil for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce by whisking together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, and water or beef broth.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Cook the marinated beef until browned on both sides; then remove from heat.
  4. In the same skillet, stir-fry the bell peppers and onion until tender-crisp. Add minced garlic and ginger; cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  5. Return beef to the skillet and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir until everything is well-coated and cook for a few more minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Serve hot over rice or noodles, garnished with chopped green onions.
