- 1 pound ground beef (80% lean / 20% fat)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 16–24 slices pepperoni
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Form the mixture into four equal patties.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Toast the buns cut side up on a baking sheet until golden brown.
- Grill the patties for 4-5 minutes per side or until your desired doneness is reached.
- Warm pizza sauce in a small saucepan over low heat while grilling the patties.
- Spread half of the warm pizza sauce on the bottom halves of the toasted buns. Top with half of the mozzarella cheese and half of the pepperoni slices. Broil for 2-3 minutes until cheese melts.
- Assemble each burger by placing a grilled patty on the sauced bun bottom and adding more sauce, cheese, and pepperoni if desired. Broil again until everything is melted.
- Place top halves of buns on assembled burgers and serve hot.
