- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed (for filling)
- 2 tbsp ground cinnamon (for filling)
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened (for frosting)
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
- 2–4 tbsp milk (for frosting)
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, egg, food coloring, and vanilla. Combine with dry ingredients.
- Gradually add remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead until smooth.
- Let rise for about an hour until doubled in size.
- Prepare the filling by mixing butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
- Roll dough into a rectangle, spread filling evenly, and roll tightly into a log. Slice into 12 pieces.
- Place in a greased baking dish and let rise again for 30 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare frosting by beating cream cheese and butter; gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth.
