  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and instant yeast in a small bowl; let sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine warm milk, sweetened condensed milk, softened butter, and egg; stir until mixed.
  4. Add the yeast mixture to the wet ingredients and then combine with dry ingredients using a wooden spoon.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  6. Place in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  7. Punch down the dough and shape into a loaf; place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Cover again and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  10. Brush top of loaf with beaten egg mixed with water before baking for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
